Introducing "བུད་མེད་ལས་རི་ཡོད། (Bümed Lé Ri Yö): A Ray of Light," a poignant photograph capturing the innocence and resilience of children at Dickey Orphanage in Lhasa, Tibet. Despite their sadness, the children are neatly dressed, finding solace and hope within the walls of this sanctuary.
Dickey Orphanage in Lhasa is home to around 90 children, founded by Tamdrin Dadhon, a courageous Tibetan woman who sold her family business and used the proceeds from her teahouse to start the orphanage with 300,000 Yuan on September 10th, 2002. In Tibetan, ‘Dickey’ means ‘fine’ and ‘happiness’. At present, Dickey's Orphanage provides care for 73 children, mostly between six and nine years old, with the youngest being just two months old. They receive lodging, tuition, and medical aid, supported by the compassionate efforts of the community.
This image is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of compassionate care and support on vulnerable lives. It portrays Dickey Orphanage as a beacon of light in their world, where basic needs are met and spirits nurtured. Purchasing this photograph not only brings a piece of meaningful art into your home or office but also supports Dickey Orphanage's mission to provide love, care, and opportunities for children in need. It serves as a visual testament to the importance of empathy and the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive despite adversity.
